Handmade Hankies
September 7 - October 29th
Kathleen Calhan was always interested in the sewing arts, and began collecting handker-chiefs in the 1940s. This exhibit features over 80 of Kathleen’s hankies, which are primarily made by hand. The lace handiwork in these handkerchiefs features some of the finest handmade stitches and although several hankies may demonstrate one particular style or stitch, no two are identical.
Kathleen is the wife of Charles Calhan, the great grandson of Clayton's founder, Joel Clayton.
